…it Matters

When truths fold in on themselves like a rabbit hole, I just write. Writing is therapy no matter where you put the punctuation. A student of democracy, poking paradigms or the status quo if it isn’t delivering, so many questions and it’s not disrespectful to challenge authority – it’s an honor.

Politicians, leaders of companies and industry, dogmatics, figureheads, dynasties, elites, dignitaries, political officers — none of them care about the future, although they’re all happy to leverage it. They care about the now. About earnings, about territory, about enriching themselves and extending their families. This isn’t a condemnation, it is biology. We need to accept it and find a work-around.
While change rushes past us we still extract resources we never should have consumed, use people as slaves, and treat animals/farmland/oceans/atmospheres as our bin. It’s true. Nice people who never had anything are fleeing wholesale violence, living in the worst kind of fear, while the ubers craft a global economy that overshoots itself due to their gambles, laying down for the masses years of fragility and security loss. We don’t look at each other or meet up anymore because of these cool devices. Digging holes and building towers.
But don’t get angry. Can’t be angry. Incentives line up to go along. It’s like every one in the matrix is closing in on their high score, too busy with work, or pharmaceutical-ed — just not paying attention.
One could argue we all build complex social organizations and are ruled by bureaucratic institutions, group-think and powerful special interests. One could also argue: so be it, this is modern life, here we are, free as a bird. There’s no such thing as equity, anyway; when has there ever been equity.
Besides, science will save those who can afford it. We’ll find new planets. Hopefully before 100 years though, when physicists believe machines can take over and coastlines vanish.
Are we really hurrying to find new planets? Banking on technology to first make us obsolete then save the day with an emergency exit….How fantastic is this?
There is no out of here.
