KJS 5.26 DC, USA, the Land of Zero Moral Clarity
Senator John Fetterman went on a podcast this week and said that Democrats who oppose U.S. military intervention in Venezuela, Iran, and Cuba are becoming “increasingly anti-American.”
Let me offer a different definition.
Anti-American is holding 1.3 million HIV patients hostage for lithium. We did that. This week. In Zambia.
Anti-American is redirecting a destroyed people’s own tax money into a reconstruction fund chaired by the man whose military destroyed them. We proposed that. This week. In Gaza.
Anti-American is watching a drone contractor and a bank owned by the same billionaire follow the same war into the same country — one to blow it up, one to control its financial reconstruction. That’s called a concession. The British Empire ran them. We just rebranded it as venture diplomacy.
Anti-American is approving mango-flavored nicotine pods for children while dismantling the school lunch program. Anti-American is making African farmers choose between copper mines and malaria medicine. Anti-American is carving Memphis into three 200-mile gerrymandered districts to make sure Black voters can’t elect a single representative who answers to them.
Anti-American is the Secretary of Defense running a hot war while firing generals for insufficient loyalty and calling it military readiness.
Anti-American is a president personally profiting from a memecoin while foreign nationals pay thousands for access to his foreign policy. Anti-American is a Commerce Secretary with retained interests in the firms his trade policy affects. Anti-American is a government that stamps cartel gold with Lady Liberty’s face and sells it to citizens as a safe haven.
That’s the list, Senator. That’s what’s happening. Right now. In your government. The one you’re defending.
Fetterman said “his views haven’t really changed that much.” He said “what’s really changed is the party.”
He’s right that something changed. But it wasn’t the people who looked at 1,247 dead children in Lebanon, at 70,000 dead in Gaza, at thirteen flag-draped coffins from a war started without a congressional vote — and said enough.
Those people didn’t become anti-American. They became American in the oldest sense of the word. The sense that said you don’t get to bomb whoever you want just because you have the biggest bombs. The sense that said power without accountability is exactly what we declared independence from.
You want to know where the Democratic base went, Senator?
They went where you aren’t. Reality.
They went to the ZIP codes absorbing the fertilizer prices, the PEPFAR cuts, the school nutrition defunding, the gerrymandered maps, the mango vapes, the cartel gold, the $17 million fountain contracts, the prediction market insider trades.
That’s not anti-American. That’s the most American thing left — refusing to look away from what your government is doing in your name.
No party owns that. No senator gets to define it.
The country knows what it feels like when the system is working for everyone. It also knows what this feels like.
This is not that.
